Trying out blogging for the first time. Not much of a “blogger,” but rather a “chatter” because I love the real-time conversations on the chat lines. Will keep everyone posted about my book on adolescent literacy as I read it. Recommend it to those members who teach at-risk learners.

I am glad you are with us robleanna! I have referenced chapter numbers/titles in my posts so it will make it easier for you to see exactly what I am discussing – in case you wanted to look back for yourself in the book to read more. Our text is very dense – but lots of good ideas.
Hello Robleanna!
Though I’m reading another which draws from primary writing, I see some comman threads in good writing instruction that run across grades and through both of our books. VP’s blogs have been so full of thought and sustance from her author. VP’s recapture of Donald M. Murray’s statement, “we should think before we speak. But when it comes to writing — WRITING IS THINKING.” I liked this also! It is so true for me!
As I was reading through Routman’s chapter, Organize for Daily Writing, There is also a Don Murray statement under, Start by Engaging Students. Here Murray is saying again, he believes the most effective essays are those that “find a way for the writier to reveal a process of thought that invites the reader to think alongside the writer”.
